Called the “ultimate driving machine” BMW’s are associated with wealth and prestige. Beginning as a builder of airplane engines, and then building motorcycles in the 1920’s, BMW began making automobiles afterward, with the BMW 2002 arriving in the United States in the 1960s. A BMW combines the maneuverability, speed and fuel efficiency of a sports car with the comfort of a sedan. The reason for their continued popularity is the vehicles excellent performance. Not surprisingly, BMWs appear in four James Bond films, three of them the most recent, which may indicate the current popular impression of the BMW: it’s a wealthy person’s vehicle.
