In 1989, in an attempt to compete with smaller imports, General Motors began producing the Geo line of small cars and SUVs under its Chevrolet Division. Most Geos were produced under joint ventures with Toyota and with Suzuki motor companies in plants in California and Canada. The Storm and the Spectrum were built by Isuzu and Tracker was built by Suzuki in Japan. Geo models included the Prizm, the Spectrum, the Storm and the Tracker. Unfortunately, the market for smaller cars declined in the United States in the 1990s and the Geo did not sell up to expectations. The last Geo, the Tracker, was discontinued in 2004.
