Soichiro Honda was a mechanic and self-taught engineer. During WWII, in Japan, gas was in short supply so he designed a 2-cycle engine for his bicycle. Next, he started building motorcycles and went on from there. Honda is now the world’s largest producer of internal combustion engines. The Japanese owned Honda has been selling cars to Americans for 30 years, and has gathered a significant following due to the vehicles’ reliability and fuel efficiency. The name Honda has become synonymous worldwide with impeccable engineering and cutting edge technology in motor cars. At present, along with its normal internal combustion vehicles, Honda offers hybrid, natural gas and rechargeable electric vehicles.
