At the beginning of WWII, the military needed what they termed a “Scout Car”. The winning bid had to be submitted to the military in forty-nine days. Bantam Car Company and Willis Overland were the designers of that first Jeep. Who came up with the name Jeep is a matter for conjecture. While the Goony Bird, the Tiger Tank and the P51 Mustang have all retired to the status of legend. Jeep lives on and it lives on in a guise that would be easily recognizable to those WWII Dog Faces. While time has changed the Jeep, its breeding and its legend are still evident.
