Plymouth was the brand name of a vehicle under the Chrysler Corporation. It was introduced in 1926 as a lower priced vehicle as a competitor to Ford and Chevrolet who already had such offerings. However, the Plymouth came with such things as expanding hydraulic brakes that its competitors did not have. Having a low-end vehicle available for sale may have kept Chrysler afloat during the lean 1930s, but it was the Plymouths quality that kept it selling. It was durable and affordable with quality engineering. Later, in the 1960s, changes in the styling caused further sales increases. However, those increases didn’t last and the last Plymouths rolled off the line in 2001.
