In German, Volkswagen literally means “peoples car” and that is what was built in the 1930s. When the Beetle was introduced in America the people there fell in love with it. One has to wonder if that didn’t have something to do with a little car named “Herbie” in the Disney movie “The Love Bug”. When the Beetle came back to America in the 1990s is was as popular as ever, along with other offerings from Volkswagen. In the past, other VW cars included the Rabbit and the Jetta. There was a VW van too. Today’s Jetta has been on the Car and Driver 10 best list.
